My Pinterest Experience
So I don't if anyone else out there is as excited about Pinterest as I am, but I find myself pinning to my hearts content at least 1 day a week. I will usually go crazy getting so many wonderful ideas, and then put my computer down and go about my week as usual. As you can tell...I'm beginning to wonder what's the point?
So this week I've decided to actually change things up and try some of these "fabulous" ideas that everyone's pinning about.
Example #1 The clean kitchen sink
~So the idea here is to run your disposal for a few minutes and then pour 1/4c. of baking soda down the drain. Then turn on the disposal for a few seconds to rinse the soda around and wait for 10 minutes while it does it's thing. Then you come back and pour 1c. of vinegar into the drain and Viola! Your drain is supposed to bubble up providing a brand new sink.
Well...that's not exactly the outcome I discovered. After pouring in the vinegar I saw no amazing/spontaneous bubble moment and my sink still seems the same to me. My Viola moment was non existent. I'm not sure if my sink simply wasn't "dirty" enough or if this whole thing is really as lack luster as it appears.
Example #2 The spot remover
~I have 2 adorable, yet very dirty children. They are constantly coming inside with who knows what stuck to the bottom of their shoes. So needless to say, I have a ton of spots on my white carpet. I decided to take on these stains with the new Pinterest idea of spraying 1/4c vinegar and 3/4c. water solution directly onto the spot. Then you apply a wet cloth and simply iron out the stain.
Once again I'm a bit disappointed. I can't really tell if it worked at all. I know the stain is definitely still there, but I did see some dirt come up on the wet rag. Unfortunately, I can't see much of a significant change in the spot on my carpet. I might try to do this one again to give it one last try. As you can see...I'm pretty desperate to get rid of some of these spots.
Example #3 The Halloween Witch Hat Cookies
~Take a Keebler Fudge cookie and turn it upside down. Then apply a dab of orange frosting to the middle and place a Hershey's chocolate kiss right on the orange dab. Now you have a seasonal treat for your kiddos to enjoy!
So basically, there's no way you can go wrong with chocolate and frosting so to me this idea is a true winner!!!! I can't wait to make these with my kids next month. I'm realizing from this mini experience (compliments of my son....who does not like the word experiment), that maybe I should stick with more of the food ideas than the home remedies.
