It's been a VERY long time since I've posted! Moving has taken a bigger toll on me than I originally anticipated. :( There has definitely been some homesickness involved, but I'm holding fast to the journey/adventure that God has placed before me and my family.
The Fall has been beautiful so far and I intend to post more photos soon....
However, this post is all about APPLES!!!!
I absolutely love apple season. I'm usually counting down the days until we do our annual trip up to Oak Glen. So you can imagine how excited I was to visit a local apple farm out here in Pennsylvania. The farm is called Highland Orchards. They are located about 20 min from our house (which is much closer than Oak Glen).
We were fortunate enough to have some new friends/neighbors join us out there for picking. Our favorite pick of the day was a type called Mutsu. We were unfamiliar with the name, but the apples are quite large and hold a tangy sweet flavor that is great for baking and quite nice in the raw as well. I can practically taste the cinnamon & spice in my pies already.
The selection was rather decent, but the locals were a bit too friendly for my liking. Now by locals, I'm referring to the wasps. They have inhabited the farm from head to toe and they make their presence known just about as soon as you slip out of the car. If there was one negative to this place, it would have to be these buzzing pests. The kids lost both of their apple ciders due to their dive bombs into the cup. If I wasn't so concerned for my child I might have laughed. I've never seen Taylor drop a cup and run so fast in my life! I think she could really set an amazing PR with that rate! ;)
This post will be the start of many more to come for this upcoming year. I can't wait to share some photos from Maddy's Birthday & the Fall foliage out here!
